IS YOUR KNEE SUPPLEMENT EFFECTIVE?

Knee pain (Osteoarthritis of the knee) is a prevalent condition. As a pharmacist, we have many customers asking for supplements for knee pain. The Arthritis Research UK is an evidence based body that studies common supplements for knee pain. The list below summarizes the effectiveness evidence of each type of supplement based on the Arthritis Research UK.

The effectiveness scale is from 1 to 5 where the highest score is 5 is defined as consistent evidence across several studies to suggest the effectiveness of the supplement. The lowest score of 1 is defined as little or no evidence to suggest the supplement is effective.

Important to note:
The effectiveness ratings for each supplement published are evidence based. However, I always tell my customers it is still the individual response that matters. Always give yourself 1 to 3 months to decide if the product is suitable for you. The list of supplements chosen above is commonly found in most pharmacies in Malaysia, and they are considered to be safe by the Arthritis Research UK.
