Food Aid Program to 50 Families in KK

Kota Kinabalu, 18 January 2020 – ”Improving one community at a time”, CARiNG Pharmacy alongside MyKasih Foundation organized a local visit to the Food Aid Programme recipients at Milimewa Superstore, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

The Food Aid Programme is part of the Love my Neighborhood project. It is a cashless allowance program that allows the beneficiaries to spend on approved essential food items at a partner retail outlet. Each of the 50 selected families will be credited RM80 monthly, under their MyKasih fund within the terms of 12 Months. The families are able to spend on essential necessities of their choice at any partner retail outlets.

In lieu of CARiNG Pharmacy’s 25th Anniversary last year, we have expanded in total of 134 outlets nationwide at the end of 2019. In Borneo, CARiNG Pharmacy had just welcomed its fourth outlet in Kota Kinabalu last November at Imago. CARiNG Pharmacy is steadfast in its dedication to provide cost-effective health solutions to the communities.

The main objective of the meet and greet with the 50 adopted families is to fulfill the long-term commitment from both parties to improve wellness in the community. On top of RM80 monthly food aid subsidy, CARiNG Pharmacy will also subsidise additional RM30 monthly in cash voucher form to the families for them to purchase pharmacy related items such as OTC medicine at any of the CARiNG Pharmacy retail outlets located in Kota Kinabalu.

The recipients for this program are from low-income households of below RM1,500 combined income. The allowances which the recipient receive is bimonthly and is credited in their MyKad or MyKasih Smartcard. CARiNG Pharmacy contributed a total of RM66,000 for this project; with the breakdown of RM48,000 for the Food Aid program and the remaining of RM18,000 will be given as CARiNG Cash Vouchers.

The subsidy and allowance are handed over by the company’s Marketing Director, Mr. Loo Jooi Leng and the representative from My Kasih Foundation during the meet & greet session. To make the event more excitement, the 50 families start their first month shopping at Milimewa Superstore, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
