Useful Tools

Useful Tools To Kick-start Your Weight Loss Journey!

Are you in the healthy range?

Use this tool to calculate your Body Mass Index (BMI) now to know your health risk.

BMI value of 23 and above indicates that your weight is outside of the healthy weight range for your height.

What is Healthy Weight?

As overweight and obesity are the serious threat to your health, it is important to understand the right way to lose weight.
To kick start, understand which BMI classifications you are in.

Carrying excess body fat around your middle is more of a health risk than if weight is on your hips and thighs.

Waist circumference is a better estimate of visceral fat, the dangerous internal fat that coats the organs.

Waist Circumference (WC) measurement is simple, reliable, and correlates well with abdominal fat content irrespective of the BMI. WC is also an independent risk factor for cardiovascular diseases. It is most useful in individuals who are in the normal and overweight categories of the BMI.

In those with BMI > 35 kg/m2 it is unnecessary to measure WC as it loses its predictive value.

How To Measure Your Waist Circumference?

The following waist circumference is associated with an increased risk of  comorbidities such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

  • Men ≥ 90 cm
  • Women ≥ 80 cm
  • Stand and place a tape measure around your middle, just above your hipbones
  • Make sure tape is horizontal around the waist
  • Keep the tape snug around the waist, but not compressing the skin
  • Measure your waist just after you breathe out
